Our Mission Statement

South Bay Vocational Center’s mission is to provide vocational training, counseling, advocacy, and opportunity for individuals with disabilities.

Our Core Values

South Bay Vocational Center has six core values (Growth, Stability, Image, Dignity, Trustworthy, and Competence). These values are beneficial to the individuals we serve and the community. The organization core values are as follows:
  • South Bay Vocational Center values the growth of the organization. We must continue our growth because this field is forever changing in the right direction. South Bay Vocational Center’s management time teams up every year to discuss how we can expand our services.

  • South Bay Vocational Center values the financial stability of the organization. The upper-management team are aware of our organization needs to have a stable financial to continue to provide excellent quality services.

  • South Bay Vocational Center values the image of the organization. Image is everything when soliciting your organization values and goals to the community.

  • South Bay Vocational Center employees respect the inherent dignity and worth of the persons we serve. South Bay Vocational Center employees will treat each person in a caring and respectful fashion, mindful of individual differences, culture and ethnic diversity. South Bay Vocational Center employees promote self-determination to individuals. South Bay Vocational Center employees seek to enhance clients' capacity and opportunity to change and to address their own needs. South Bay Vocational Center employees are cognizant of their dual responsibility to clients and to the broader society. Our Vision

South Bay Vocational Center has a broad range of vision for the organization. The visions have been set by the entire organization including the Board of Directors. The vision is the following:
  • The organization vision is to provide excellent quality of services to internal and external customers and to provide food and school supplies to low-income families in the community while giving the individuals we serve the opportunity to experience integrated settings whether its in a social or working environment.

Our Philosophy

South Bay Vocational Center developed a Person-Centered Philosophy to meet the individuals who we serve wants and needs. The Person- Centered Philosophy has been set by the entire organization including the Board of Directors. The Philosophy is the following:
SBVC services are designed around the identified needs and desires of the persons served, are responsive to their expectations, and are relevant to their maximum participation in the environments of their choice. South Bay Vocational Center is committed to a system that nurtures personal growth and dignity of persons served, which is emphasized during orientation and ongoing staff training. This will be demonstrated by services being provided in a setting that provides the best access and is during hours most preferred by the people served. It will be demonstrated by people served being supported to direct and manage their services to the extent they wish.

Community Employment Services

Through job coaching, performance evaluations, and continued individual development, South Bay Vocational Center actively helps handicapped and mentally challenged people that participate in our programs find employment opportunities that have been designed with their capabilities in mind. From a schoolhouse in 1952 to a progressive habilitation facility, South Bay Vocational Center continues to provide programs and services to improve the quality of life for consumers and increase their chances to succeed in a highly competitive world.
